Things To Do

• Drive – Drive the Beara Peninsula for rugged unspoilt  scenery. The Healy Pass and the  tunnel road  are two of Ireland’s best drives and can be done as a loop drive from Glengarriff or Kenmare. The villages of Glengarriff, Allihies and Eyeries are the main stops with the fishing town Casltwtownbere a great place to buy supplies. 
• Allihies – In Allihies visit the Mines Museum which tells of the era when the copper mines was the main employer in the nineteenth century. There are walks in the area and a wonderful sandy beach.
• The islands of Bantry Bay– Garinish, Whiddy, and Bere Island are all inhabited. Bere Island can be accessed by ferry, is great for walking and has a heritage centre. Walking tours of Dursey Island telling of the history of the island can be organised. Access is via Ireland’s only cable car.
• Artists of Beara – There are many artists on the Beara and a tour visiting some in their studio can be organised. 
• Gardens of Beara – Other well-known gardens on the Beara include Ewe Garden near Glengarriff and Derreen Garden near Lauragh.
• Day trips Planned of the Beara Peninsula can be organised to see some of the many sites. 
• Walking the  Beara Peninsula is a great walking and cycling route. Bike hire and walking guides for groups can be organised.

Lifejackets, Warm wind proof jackets, Expert Skipper Guide in Boat.

Please Bring

Boat with expert skipper who will give story of the area as you travel Bantry Bay.  Lifejackets . If you bring a camera make sure it is in a waterproof case and a rucksack is the best way to carry all gear.

Good To Know

• Garinish is a beautiful island of lushly planted gardens and paths to wander through. The 90 minutes will allow you to see the gardens but we suggest having your picnic on the mainland in 2021. There are toilets on the island beside the arrival desk. You can bring small children and babies but it’s not suited for buggies.

  Boat Trips and Charters -The boat trips take 10 – 30 passengers depending on the trip. Child rates apply for children from  8 to 12 years of age. The  Mackerel Fishing and Marine Wildlife Tours take from 2-10 people. It’s not suited to small children. 

  Family and Children – Two boat sizes available are one taking a max of 10  people and another a max 30 people depending on the trip.  If you have your own group sole use of a boat may be possible depending on boat availability and size of the group. Child rates apply for children from  8 to 12 years of age. The  Mackerel Fishing and Marine Wildlife Tours take from 2-10 people. It’s not suited to small children.

  Charter Boats – Charter boats can be organized for 1 to 4 hours for a group trip on Bantry Bay. This is a very safe way to experience the beauty of Bantry Bay for a family get-together. Food can be organized if you require it.

• Bring bottles of water and snacks for the trip and keep everything in a rucksack – not a handbag.
• Cancellation Policy – This tour can be booked and refunded up to 5 days before the tour starts. Money will be refunded to paying card, apart from a €5 booking deposit per person booked.
• Make sure any camera or phone is a waterproof container- and advise to bring to catch those magic photos or videos.
• Arrive 15 minutes before your trip so can get the safety briefing.
• If the weather is stormy, fog or too windy this trip will be canceled, due to safety considerations and a refund given.

• Please note that we and our guides reserve the right to refuse participation in the activity if you are intoxicated, if refuse to comply with the instructions of the guide, if there is a risk to your safety or the safety of others for any reason, or are deemed unfit or unable to participate (in the reasonable opinion of Activity Days or the Guide). In this event, your fee will not be refunded.
