Donegal Walks and Hikes

Guided walk in North Donegal with an expert local guide on the Inishowen Peninsula near Fort Dunree. Walks take place at specific times and need fitness level  2 to 4.  If you want a private guided tour contact us on the inquiry form with the date and time and indicate which walk interests you. Tours take place daily from May to September or on request on other dates.

Walk Through Time at Fort Dunree – Explore the story of Fort Dunree and Lough Swilly from the Iron Age to the present. Get to know the flora and fauna in a wild location on this 1.5-hour walk. Includes entry to Fort Dunreee Museum and tea/coffee and scone.

Time 11 am  Monday, Thursday, Saturday.  Cost €30.00

Sunset Walk at Fort Dunree – This is Similar to the Day walk and takes place at various times as sunset changes. Tour is timed to watch the sunset from the best spots for magical photos at the end of the 1-hour tour. This is one of the best places in Ireland to see the Aurora Borealis – you never know your luck. Starts at 8.30 pm in June – we confirm the start time when booked. 

Time:- Friday and Tuesday or on request.  Cost   €19.00

Bog Safari – This hiking experience needs a level of fitness of 3, takes 3 to 4 hours, and gives insight into the unique landscape of the Irish Bog. See Green Energy in action as you ramble through the dramatic landscape with a snack on a hilltop with panoramic views of Lough Swilly and West Donegal. Can be shortened to 2 hours for private tours. 

Time:-  2pm Saturdays or on request.  Cost €50  

Living Landscape Hike – this hike is one of the classic routes along the Wild Atlantic Way. The  3 to 4-hour hike starts at sea level and ascends to 300 meters. Need level 4 fitness for this hike and aged 16+ with an adult to accompany each teenager. Hear the stories of the area, get close to nature and stunning views of Fanad, Lough Swilly, Inishowen, and the Atlantic Ocean. Bring swimwear to have clear Atlantic water afterward.
